Nikki Mabias

Nikki Mabias is a Filipino-Canadian set and costume designer currently based in Montreal, Quebec. Growing up in a vibrant multicultural environment, Nikki is dedicated to showcasing her heritage through her work while amplifying the voices of artists from diverse backgrounds in collaborative art spaces. Her artistic inspiration spans various mediums, including visual arts, theater, film, dance, and circus.

She holds a DEC in Professional Theatre Design from John Abbott College, where she specialized in set and costume design, honing her skills in scenic painting, model making, puppetry, filming, and editing. At the National Theatre School of Canada, Nikki further refined her design sensibility through collaborative projects, including costume design for Attempts on Her Life directed by Rose Plotek; set and props design for Jane Eyre directed by Jillian Keiley; and costume design for Salvage the Wrecked directed by Jonathan Seinen.

She worked with coaches and mentors such as Micheline ChevrierGillian GallowPierre-Étienne LocasLouis-Karl TremblayAnnick-Lavallé BennyMaryanna Chan, and many more.

Nikki holds a passion for collaborating with up-and-coming artists around her. Some projects include production design for the musical Next to Normal, set and costume for the workshop of Love the Sinner, set and props design for the musical Be More Chill, and production design on short films. She enjoys mentoring other emerging designers as well and wishes to continue this passion in the future.
